Interiors That Work in Real Life: Designing Homes for How You Actually Live
We Curate Homes That People Actually Live In
I have been thinking about this a lot recently. There is a certain kind of interior design that exists primarily for the portfolio. Beautiful, certainly. Often created for properties that sit empty for most of the year.
That is not what we do at Queensdale.
Homes that answer real questions
We work with families. With children who need somewhere to dump school bags. With professionals who work from home three days a week. With couples who actually use their dining room throughout the year, not only on Christmas Day.
Our work has to answer real questions. Where do the children's scooters go so they are not abandoned in the hallway? Does this home office genuinely function for back-to-back calls? How does this kitchen work when you are cooking for the whole family during the week? Where can the buggy live so it is not permanently blocking the front door? Is there somewhere easy to leave a bike for the daily commute? If it is a part-time property, does it have an efficient lock and leave system that actually works?
The homes we curate look beautiful. They also need to work.
Designers who are problem solvers
This thinking shapes who we recruit. Our designers are project managers and problem solvers. They understand the difference between aspiration and reality. Between what photographs well and what actually supports daily life.
Whether a member is in a property for a few weeks each year or it is their sole home, the brief remains the same.
Thoughtfully planned. Practically considered. A relief to come home to.
Real people, real houses
We are building Queensdale for real people in real houses. Homes that reflect how life is actually lived, not only how it appears in a final shot. There is no shortage of beautiful interiors in the world. There is, however, a real shortage of beautiful interiors that hold up to the demands of a Tuesday evening with three loads of washing, a missing PE kit and dinner that needs to be on the table in twenty minutes.
That is the work we love most.
If you are renovating this year
If you or someone you know is renovating or furnishing a property this year and would value this approach, we would be glad to hear from you. You can learn more about how membership works at queensdale.co.uk.
